Jacobs' Baltimore Transportation team is seeking a motivated Water Resources Engineer with a strong background in highway and roadway drainage design. This is an opportunity to work on multi‑discipline transportation and infrastructure projects focused on hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, culvert and channel design, and drainage systems that support Maryland's roadway network. You will serve as a mid‑level Water Resources Engineer on transportation projects across Maryland-developing designs and documentation in compliance with the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) drainage criteria, hydrologic and hydraulic design policies, and stormwater management regulations. What You'll Be Doing: * Perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses for roadway and transportation projects using MDOT SHA's Highway Drainage Manual criteria and stormwater management design resources. * Develop designs for storm drain systems, culverts, ditches, channels, underdrains, and erosion/sediment control in accordance with MDOT SHA and applicable Maryland standards. * Create 3D models for drainage conveyance networks using OpenRoads/Civil3D and MDOT SHA design criteria. Integrate and coordinate designs with other other disciplines. * Prepare drainage reports, computations, design exception requests, and engineering documentation per Maryland state procedures. * Coordinate closely with roadway, structural, environmental, traffic, and geotechnical teams to integrate water resources design into highway/roadway projects. * Support stormwater management (SWM) and environmental permitting components in collaboration with local and state agencies. * Perform plan quality reviews, participate in value engineering studies, and support construction-phase submittal reviews. * Participate in project planning, scheduling, cost estimation, and interdisciplinary design coordination. #LI-LM1236 Here's what you'll need * Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field. * Professional experience in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, or roadway drainage design. * Professional Engineer (PE) in Maryland * Familiarity with MDOT SHA drainage design requirements, including hydrologic methods, culvert design, storm drains, channels, and SWM criteria. * Proficiency with H&H modeling tools (e.g., HY-8, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS) and CAD platforms such as Bentley OpenRoads/AutoDesk Civil 3D. * Understanding of AASHTO drainage guidance and FHWA hydraulic standards as they apply to Maryland transportation projects. * Experience preparing drainage plans, computations, and technical reports for transportation clients. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
