The Quality and Compliance Specialist supports the Patient Safety Officer in the investigation, documentation, and reporting of patient safety events, adverse events, and incidents, as well as patient complaints and regulatory compliance activities.

This role is responsible for executing day-to-day patient safety and compliance processes while identifying and escalating high-risk issues and supporting regulatory reporting and performance improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Safety Events, Adverse Events, and Incident Management

  • Perform daily review and triage of patient safety events, adverse events, and incident reports.
  • Categorize events appropriately and identify those requiring escalation to the Patient Safety Officer or designee.
  • Support event investigations through medical record review, data collection, and documentation of findings.
  • Assist in preparation of documentation for reportable events in accordance with payor, state, and federal requirements.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analyses, as required.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready documentation of all events and follow-up activities.
Patient Complaints and Grievances
  • Receive, log, and track patient complaints and grievances in accordance with hospital policy and CMS requirements.
  • Support investigation and documentation of grievances, including drafting written responses for leadership review.
  • Ensure timelines for acknowledgment and resolution are consistently met.
  • Escalate complaints that meet grievance criteria or present elevated risk.
  • Maintain organized, survey-ready grievance documentation.
Quality Improvement and Data Management
  • Collect, validate, and maintain data related to patient safety events, grievances, and quality indicators.
  • Assist in developing routine reports, summaries, and dashboards for leadership review.
  • Identify trends and escalate potential risk patterns to the Patient Safety Officer.
  • Support interdisciplinary quality committees through data preparation and documentation.
  • Assist with tracking and monitoring performance improvement initiatives.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree preferred

Healthcare Experience required, hospital experience preferred

Patient Safety, Compliance, and/or Quality experience preferred

Schedule

M-F 9am-3pm
