Opportunity

FLT Automation is seeking a Mechanical Engineering talent to meet the growing demand for our automation solutions. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the design, development, and integration of mechanical systems and components integral to our custom solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Work closely with Manufacturing, Controls Engineering and Project Management to manage projects from inception to final customer acceptance and sign-off.

· Interpret schematics to develop complete system designs.

· Maintain project schedules.

· Interpret and provide design input into mechanical drawings.

· Participate in reviewing and releasing final engineering drawings to manufacturing.

· Participate in design review meetings for internal, as well as outsourced designs.

· Involved with creating and maintaining an accurate bill of material (BOM) for all designs.

· Ensure equipment start up and commissioning meets approved customer operating specifications.

· Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to develop and provide equipment installation instructions which are compliant with site installation requirements.

· Ensure all equipment (manufactured internally or outsourced) meets project quality, delivery, and budget expectations.

· Ensure that FLT products and services continue to be the benchmark in the industry.

Preferred skills and qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other closely related engineering discipline or equivalent experience.

· 5+ years of on-the-job design and engineering experience related to custom machinery and/or capital equipment.

· 2+ years of on-the-job experience in a project-build, manufacturing environment.

· Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

· Meet deadlines without compromising the integrity of the project or safety.

· Maintaining a professional and positive relationship with customers and suppliers.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.

· Advanced skills with mechanical design software (SolidWorks or Rockwell preferred).

Work Environment

Primarily office-based with occasional visits to manufacturing floors (e.g., exposure to moderate noise, moving mechanical parts).

Travel Requirements

  • Subject to business needs < 10% of travel may be required.
