Our client is a rapidly growing clean energy technology company focused on hydrogen solutions, advanced power systems, industrial gas infrastructure, and next-generation energy technologies supporting the global energy transition.


The organization develops innovative solutions across hydrogen production, storage, fueling infrastructure, and distributed power applications serving industrial, logistics, mobility, and utility markets.


Position Summary


The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, specification, and execution of mechanical systems associated with hydrogen production, storage, compression, liquefaction, fueling, and balance-of-plant equipment. This individual will work cross-functionally with process, electrical, controls, manufacturing, field operations, and project management teams to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.


This role is ideal for candidates with experience in industrial gases, energy, EPC, rotating equipment, pressure systems, cryogenics, or process facilities.


Key Responsibilities


  • Design and develop mechanical systems for hydrogen production plants, fueling stations, and related infrastructure.
  • Prepare equipment specifications, datasheets, P&IDs review inputs, layouts, and mechanical design packages.
  • Support selection and integration of compressors, pumps, valves, pressure vessels, piping systems, heat exchangers, and packaged equipment.
  • Perform engineering calculations related to pressure drop, flow, thermal performance, structural supports, and system reliability.
  • Coordinate with process, electrical, controls, and civil teams during design and execution phases.
  • Support fabrication, vendor management, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and field commissioning activities.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry codes and standards including ASME, API, ANSI, NFPA, OSHA, and local regulations.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues in field operations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate in HAZOP, PHA, MOC, and safety reviews as required.
  • Drive continuous improvement in equipment reliability, maintainability, and cost optimization.


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience in energy, industrial gas, manufacturing, chemical processing, EPC, or related industries.
  • Experience with mechanical equipment such as compressors, pumps, piping, valves, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, or cryogenic systems.
  • Familiarity with engineering codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI, OSHA).
  • Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% for site visits, vendor inspections, and commissioning.


Preferred Qualifications


  • PE license or EIT certification.
  • Experience in hydrogen, LNG, industrial gas, fuel cells, or clean energy systems.
  • Experience in skid-mounted systems or packaged process equipment.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) environments.
  • FEA, CFD, or thermal analysis experience.
  • Startup/commissioning experience.
