Our agency is hiring a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer for our client, a leader in advanced defense technologies. While product designs are provided by headquarters, the local engineering team is responsible for adapting those designs for manufacturability and troubleshooting mechanical issues directly on the production floor.

Location: Stafford, VA

Compensation: $100,000K-$120,000K

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Review mechanical designs and adapt them for efficient assembly and manufacturing.
  • Identify design gaps or inefficiencies and implement practical fixes.
  • Design and build fixtures, tooling, and various production aids.
  • Support prototype builds, first articles, and the ramp to full production.
  • Work hands-on on the manufacturing floor alongside technicians and assemblers.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues during assembly, testing, and final acceptance.
  • Create and maintain drawings, BOMs, ECNs, and detailed work instructions.
  • Assist with the layout planning and setup of the new manufacturing floor.

Qualifications:

  • Proven hands-on mechanical engineering experience including both design and build phases.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn incomplete designs into functional, working products.
  • Practical engineering judgment rather than a theory-only background.
  • High motivation with a positive attitude and a strong ownership mentality.
  • Ability to work independently in a startup-style environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support operations.
