Position Overview
The Commercial HVAC Service Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of commercial HVAC systems. This role requires strong technical knowledge of refrigeration systems, electrical schematics, electronic controls, piping, welding/brazing, and mechanical layouts.
Technicians work closely with service managers and dispatch teams to ensure projects are completed efficiently while delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Service and maintain commercial HVAC equipment on assigned projects
- Diagnose and repair systems using blueprints, wiring diagrams, piping schemes, and engineering specifications
- Perform repairs, overhauls, and system start-ups
- Conduct preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacements, and modifications
- Prepare repair quotes and recommendations in the field
- Plan and prepare for installations by reviewing building layouts and coordinating materials
- Maintain service vehicles, service manuals, and scheduling records
- Complete required documentation and service reports for each job
- Stay current with manufacturer equipment updates and service procedures
- Communicate with dispatch and service managers regarding job progress and customer needs
- Provide technical support to customers and assist other technicians with troubleshooting
- Participate in rotating on-call schedule
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
✅ Qualifications
- 3–5 years of commercial HVAC service experience
- Associate degree in HVAC, trade school certification, or equivalent hands-on experience
- EPA Universal Technician Certification
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record (no DWIs within the past 5 years)
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills
Applied Service Technicians / Chiller Technicians should meet the above qualifications along with additional industry-specific requirements.
