Native American Law - Mid-Level Associate
Location: San Diego, CA; Del Mar Heights, CA; Scottsdale, AZ
Salary Pay Range and Other Compensation: $200,000 to $260,000 depending on experience, with total compensation potential up to $280,000 including performance-based incentives

About the Role:
This role supports a Native American Law practice focused on complex transactional and regulatory matters in Indian Country. The position involves advising tribal governments, gaming entities, and other stakeholders on development projects, financings, leasing, and regulatory compliance, while working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advise tribal governments, gaming entities, and stakeholders on commercial transactions, financings, and development projects
- Draft and negotiate agreements including development, management, leasing, and financing documents
- Support regulatory matters involving federal, state, and tribal agencies
- Assist with land-into-trust processes and related legal matters
- Provide guidance on economic development initiatives within tribal communities
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support project execution
- Conduct legal research and analysis related to tribal, federal, and state laws
- Contribute to client relationship management and ongoing advisory services
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of experience handling transactional and regulatory matters
- Experience in Native American law, gaming, real estate, financings, or economic development preferred
- Active California or Arizona Bar admission
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills
- Attention to detail and sound legal judgment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Experience working with tribal governments or governmental agencies preferred
