About the Role:
The Payroll Tax Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate reporting, filing, and compliance of payroll taxes in a multi-state, multi-entity, privately held high-growth company. This position is responsible for integrating entities into the HRIS and ensuring that the associated filings and reporting has been reviewed and accurately submitted to the applicable federal or state tax agencies. The role requires collaboration with internal payroll teams, external auditors, and tax authorities to resolve discrepancies and optimize tax strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.At least 3 years of experience in payroll tax accounting or payroll tax compliance.Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and filing requirements.Proficiency with payroll systems and tax filing software.Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.Familiarity with HRIS systems, ADP preferred.Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis.Experience managing payroll tax audits and working with tax authorities.
- Reconcile payroll tax accounts and resolve any discrepancies or issues in collaboration with payroll and finance teamsPrepare and file accurate federal, state, and local 940/941 amendments and initiate W-2Cs if necessary.Monitor changes in payroll tax legislation and implement necessary adjustments to payroll processes and reporting.Coordinate with external auditors and tax authorities during audits and inquiries related to payroll taxes.Maintain detailed documentation of payroll tax filings, payments, and correspondence for audit readiness.Analyze payroll tax data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process improvements.Support the payroll department in ensuring timely and accurate payroll tax deposits and reporting.
