General Summary Of The Job
Quality control is responsible for the first time delivery of quality products as they flow throughout the operation, and to the customer, both internally and externally. Responsible for performing dimensional, visual and mechanical inspections of products and providing support to all processes in operation.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform quality checks/tests on products to ensure quality standards are met at various stages of the process, i.e. first piece, line, and final inspections.
- Prepare metallographic samples for metallurgical laboratory tests.
- Compile and maintain records for use in historical data collection processes.
- Use gauges and other devices to verify conformance to part prints and specifications of product being manufactured or tested.
- Provide gage support for manufacturing personnel, e.g. supplying, setting up, checking, calibrating and conducting gage studies.
- Assist in the implementation of a total quality management system and help train others.
- Support the PPAP Technician for all PPAP's in customer systems and databases.
- Reissuance and resolution of certifications and corrections at the request of the customer.
- Assist QA Manager with material review board (MRB) issues and maintain the QA Hold Area.
- Maintain accuracy of all quality documents and record historical data.
- Maintain file system for plating, material and steel certifications.
- Assist the entire Quality Department as needed; cross-train and fill in as backup.
- Ensure safety standards are adhered to at all times.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area.

Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
HS diploma, GED, or equivalency required. Preferred 2-years of Quality or equivalent experience. Ability to use and understand various precision measuring tools, e.g. calipers, micrometers, etc. Knowledge of quality processes and procedures. Knowledge and application of heat-treated materials for hardness and durability. Knowledge in ISO/QS/IATF requirements. Ability to consistently meet production and quality standards. Demonstrate the understanding of the manufacturing process and machine requirements to perform basic and repetitive work assignments. Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and procedures or work instructions. Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Must be able to work OT or other shifts as necessary. Knowledge of Google Workspaces preferred.
