Quality Assurance Plant Technician
The Quality Assurance Plant Technician works as a partner with the Production Department to monitor shift quality. This role completes additional testing during the production process, helps correct in-process issues as well as assists employees and provides direction to personnel in the proper testing procedures - including the use of laboratory equipment, documentation, and inspection of products at various stages of production process to ensure compliance with company, customer or government quality standards.
This is for a 2nd shift opportunity. 2nd shift is from approximately 2pm-10pm.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitor GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) including the quality testing and documentation of shift employees primarily from the Production department.
- Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as brix, pH, color, viscosity, and temperature. Records test data.
- Acts as a resource when quality, food safety or processing issues are encountered and follows through to resolution. Help fix in-process issues or make a determination for product to be put on quality hold.
- Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Calibrates lab testing equipment as required.
- Adheres to all GMP, including sanitary requirements, Safety, Food Safety, and Standardized Work procedures.
- All other related duties as assigned.
Requirements and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in food sciences, microbiology, or related field required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years experience in a Quality role or related manufacturing w/quality and testing position required.
- Previous experience in food manufacturing preferred.
- Detailed oriented with the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, and risk analysis. Ability to identify trends and patterns.
- Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions based on common sense and technical expertise. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and product samples quality results.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, manufacturing environment and climbing flights of stairs.
