Accounting Manager

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, payroll oversight, budgeting, audit support, and team management activities. This role will support complex accounting processes, ensure compliance with financial procedures, and supervise accounting staff while managing multiple financial systems and reporting functions.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, government or public sector accounting experience, and expertise in financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, and accounting system management.

Primary Responsibilities

• Review and approve accounting transactions and reconciliations within financial management systems
• Ensure timely processing and reconciliation of financial transactions and cash flow activities
• Review ACH transactions, payroll reconciliations, and financial reporting activities
• Manage budget preparation and provide funding codes for requisitions and transactions
• Maintain and manage chart of accounts structures and accounting classifications
• Supervise, mentor, and train accounting staff and new team members
• Assist with audit preparation, financial compliance activities, and corrective action processes
• Prepare federal financial reports (FFRs), expense reporting adjustments, and reconciliation reports
• Manage travel claims, disbursement claims, and financial adjustments
• Support implementation of accounting procedures and financial process improvements
• Track interest payments, investment reporting, and grant-related accounting activities
• Collaborate with leadership teams regarding financial operations and reporting requirements

Required Qualifications

• Experience managing accounting teams and financial operations
• Hands-on experience with:

• AZ360 FIN & HRM
• Strong accounting reconciliation and reporting experience
• Experience with budgeting, payroll reconciliation, and audit support
• Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting water projects or infrastructure-related accounting initiatives
• Grants accounting and federal funding experience
• Public sector or government accounting experience
