About the Role:

As a Senior Structural Engineer in our Owings Mills office, you will move beyond the drafting board to serve as a pivotal leader and Subject Matter Expert for complex industrial projects. You will be responsible for orchestrating the full lifecycle of medium-to-large scale designs, providing critical direction to teams of engineers and designers while ensuring technical excellence across diverse sectors like life sciences, power generation, and chemical refining. Here’s a glimpse into your day to day:

  • Leading multiple mid and large-size design projects.
  • Directing other engineers and designers for preparation of drawings and reports.
  • Managing scope, schedule, and budget for assigned projects.
  • Functioning as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for various projects and teams.
  • Collaborating and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Researching applicable codes and industry standards.
  • Interpreting codes and collaborating with other design professionals as needed.
  • Preparing engineering analysis and reports, including conditions assessment.
  • Preparing advanced engineering calculations and reviewing calculations prepared by others.
  • Overseeing development of preliminary and detailed engineering designs.
  • Creating engineering specifications and controls sequences with support from Chief Engineer.
  • Performing design quality control, monitoring progress, and notifying managers of scope changes.

You’ll be a perfect fit if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Civil or Architectural Engineering or applicable program.
  • Structural Engineer (SE) Licensure is preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) Licensure is required.
  • Minimum 8 years of structural engineering design experience on relevant projects. Applicable design experience includes creating construction documents for concrete and steel design in industrial, manufacturing, commercial, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and institutional environments. with significant expertise in at least two of these areas.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading engineers and designers for creation of drawings and performing engineering calculations.
  • Proficient knowledge of applicable design codes including current editions ASCE 7 (and others), IBC, ACI 318, AISC 303 (and others) as well as locally adopted codes and standards
  • Understanding of OSHA requirements as relating to facility design and construction
  • Experience and understanding of environmental and regional design considerations such as wind speed, rainfall, ice loading, seismic design, etc.
  • Ability to perform field work that will include walking, kneeling, sitting, standing, climbing stairs and/or ladders.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to client sites.
  • Willingness and ability to work in the office at least two days per week.
  • Willingness and ability to mentor and train others.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to gather and organize information and documentation.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must, along with a positive work attitude, and willingness to learn new skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay: $110,000-150,000 annually (depending on experience)
  • Annual Profit Sharing Bonus (variable)
