Accounting Manager

Accounting Manager (Contract) – Westlake, Austin, TX

A growing energy and utilities company in the Westlake area is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for a contract opportunity. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, support month-end close, and help ensure accurate financial reporting in a fast-paced environment.

This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical accounting responsibilities with team leadership and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly and year-end close activities
• Review financial statements, reporting, and reconciliations
• Oversee daily accounting operations and support a small accounting team
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Partner cross-functionally with operations and leadership teams
• Support audit preparation and maintain strong internal controls
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting efficiency

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibilities
• Prior experience managing the close process and financial reporting
• Strong Excel skills and ERP system experience
• Utility or energy industry experience is a plus
• CPA preferred but not required
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
