Mechanical Engineer

Job Description:

Insight Global is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer – Hydraulics for a leading industrial manufacturing client. This engineer will play a key role in designing, developing, and sustaining advanced hydraulic components used in high‑reliability products. The role combines hands‑on prototyping, performance analysis, and close collaboration with manufacturing and field teams. The ideal candidate is a technical leader with strong hydraulics expertise, a customer‑focused mindset, and a passion for building high‑quality, production‑ready designs.

Must‑Haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
• Strong background in hydraulic systems and mechanical components
• Deep understanding of fluid dynamics, material science, and pressure vessel design
• Ability to size and specify pumps, motors, valves, and filters
• Experience with cast metal components (sand cast and die cast aluminum, grey iron)
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
• Experience designing machined, sheet metal, plastic, and elastomeric parts
• Strong documentation skills (BOMs, ECOs, technical reports)
• Ability to work independently with limited direction

• Hands‑on experience in experimental or machine shops
• Experience working on cross‑functional engineering teams
• Exposure to electronic integration within hydraulic components
• Customer‑facing or field service support experience

Day‑to‑Day:

• Design and develop new hydraulic components and modules using 3D CAD
• Support sustaining engineering efforts for existing products
• Perform flow, pressure, and performance analysis to optimize accuracy
• Build, assemble, and test prototype components
• Conduct calibration and pressure testing
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to improve design for manufacturability
• Support field service teams and troubleshoot customer issues
• Develop and review design verification test methods and reports
• Ensure designs meet environmental and regulatory standards
