About the Role

This is not a traditional paralegal or HR position. It is a high-trust operational role inside a rapidly growing healthcare and wellness organization where no two days look the same. You will work closely with leadership on recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, investigations, compliance, documentation, policies, and performance conversations, while helping create structure in a company moving at startup speed.

One minute you may be coordinating a sensitive employee matter. The next, helping draft employment contracts, managing onboarding logistics, reviewing records, handling compliance projects, or helping leadership think through a difficult people situation. What You'll Do

Talent Acquisition & Full-Cycle Recruiting

  • Manage the full recruiting lifecycle for all open positions across Wellness Care, from job posting and sourcing through offer negotiation and close
  • Partner with hiring managers to develop accurate job descriptions, define ideal candidate profiles, and build structured interview processes
  • Proactively source candidates through LinkedIn, job boards, employee referrals, and community partnerships
  • Screen resumes, conduct phone screens, coordinate interviews, and deliver timely feedback to candidates and hiring managers
  • Maintain an organized applicant tracking system and ensure a positive candidate experience at every touchpoint
  • Track and report on recruiting metrics including time-to-fill, source of hire, and offer acceptance rates

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions related to policies, benefits, leave, and general HR matters
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure consistency and compliance across business units
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and EEOC requirements
  • Support benefits administration including open enrollment coordination and day-to-day employee questions
  • Assist with compensation analysis, pay band reviews, and job leveling as the organization grows
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook and HR policies as the business evolves
  • Draft and review employment-related documents including offer letters, agreements, PIPs, and separation documentation — this is where your paralegal background will shine

Employee Relations & Culture

  • Handle employee relations matters with discretion, fairness, and a solutions-focused mindset
  • Support or conduct workplace investigations, document findings, and help leadership navigate outcomes
  • Facilitate performance improvement conversations and support managers through difficult people decisions
  • Advise leadership on HR best practices and help build a culture of accountability and transparency
  • Support employee engagement initiatives that reinforce Wellness Care's mission and values
  • Identify trends in employee feedback and surface recommendations proactively to leadership

What We're Looking For

  • Background as a paralegal, legal assistant, law office manager, HR professional, compliance coordinator, or operational administrator
  • Strong writing, organization, and follow-through (you produce clean work and close open loops).
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with the same discretion you would in a legal setting
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where the playbook is still being written
  • Strong judgment and genuine common sense (you know when to escalate and when to handle it)
  • Healthcare, employment law, compliance, or multi-state experience is a meaningful plus
  • Experience with HRIS or ATS platforms; Gusto experience is a bonus
