Company Description:

Our client in the food manufacturing industry is searching for a strong Accounting Manager to partner with the Controller. This individual will manage a team of 7 direct reports and oversee the day-to-day accounting of a roughly $170M Company. They will play a critical role in overseeing general ledger accounting and cost accounting and assist with an upcoming ERP integration. Their ideal candidate must have accounting supervisory experience and experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial variance analyses.
• Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger and related financial records.
• Generate financial statements, operational reporting, and ad hoc analyses for leadership and management teams.
• Lead all cost accounting activities, including standard costing, inventory valuation, overhead allocation, bill of materials (BOM), cost of goods sold (COGS), and manufacturing variance analysis.
• Partner closely with Operations, Production, and Supply Chain teams to improve costing accuracy and support operational decision-making.
• Analyze inventory activity and oversee reconciliation of cycle counts and physical inventory processes.
• Monitor manufacturing and operational KPIs, including SKU profitability, labor utilization, scrap/waste, freight expense, and production efficiencies.
• Review payroll-related accounting activity and reconcile payroll general ledger accounts, as needed.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, internal controls, and audit requirements.
• Develop, maintain, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to protect company assets and strengthen reporting accuracy.
• Prepare audit schedules and support documentation for external audits, tax filings, lender reporting, and compliance reviews.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members by providing ongoing coaching, training, and performance management.
• Promote a collaborative, accountable, and continuous improvement-oriented environment within the Finance and Accounting team.
• Work cross-functionally with multiple departments to improve communication, reporting transparency, and operational alignment.
• Assist with ERP system enhancements, integrations, and process improvement initiatives within the accounting and finance function.
• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline workflows, enhance reporting capabilities, and increase operational efficiency.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related degree
• Accounting Supervisory experience is required (AP/AR Supervision).
• Experience in a Manufacturing Company is required.
• Cost Accounting experience is required.
• Knowledge of major accounting software packages for general ledger accounting
• Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams, business leaders, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
