Buyer

Location: Onsite in Wyoming, MI

Our client is a well-established manufacturing organization seeking a Buyer I to support direct material procurement in a production-driven environment. This role is ideal for an early-career Buyer with 1–2 years of experience in direct purchasing who wants hands-on exposure to suppliers, cost negotiations, and day-to-day manufacturing support.

The Buyer will work closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Engineering to ensure materials are available to support production schedules while maintaining cost, quality, and delivery expectations.

• Source and purchase direct materials, components, and sub-assemblies in support of manufacturing operations
• Support assigned commodity areas, assisting with supplier selection, pricing, and delivery performance
• Resolve supplier issues including late deliveries, quality concerns, and pricing discrepancies
• Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier data within the ERP/MRP system, including pricing updates and item master maintenance
• Assist with cost negotiations and identify opportunities for cost savings
• Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with internal teams to mitigate material shortages
• Communicate regularly with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities and timelines
• Support continuous improvement efforts within the supply chain and purchasing function

• 1–2 years of experience in a direct buying or purchasing role within a manufacturing environment
• Exposure to purchasing materials such as metal, electrical components, fabricated parts, or mechanical components preferred
• Experience working in an ERP/MRP system
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow within a purchasing or supply chain career path
