Our client is a single family office that manages U.S. and global assets as well as oversees the family’s financial, estate and income tax planning and compliance. These endeavors require rigorous attention to all aspects of the family’s multi-generational balance sheet which is dispersed among 30+ entities. Headquarters is in Boston; there are satellite offices in Santa Barbara and St. Helena, California. Family members are integral, on a full-time basis with a dynamic relationship with the small but highly talented and energetic team of eleven including family members. Family office also works closely with advisors and outside professionals who assist with investment management, governance, legal, tax planning and compliance. Some of these advisors also serve in a fiduciary capacity.
Job Summary
As an Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day management of record keeping, cash flows and operations. The position will report directly to the Director of Finance and EVP/CIO. The ideal candidate will be accountable, hardworking, detail oriented and have a sense of urgency. The individual will possess strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate. The ideal candidate will easily adhere to the essential need for privacy and discretion at a family office.

Key Responsibilities
1. Accounts payable for multiple entities.
2. General ledger maintenance including reviewing reconciled bank statements.
3. Manage daily cash visibility: monitor bank balances, flag unusually high/low balances, and track upcoming Treasury maturities.
4. Execute and document money movement: set up wires and cash transfers across bank/brokerage portals and ensure strict controls for each transaction.
5. Maintain/update/improve internal reports that are used to manage the family’s assets.
6. Work closely with an outside CPA firm on tax compliance work.
7. Focus on capital calls and any correspondence from third party managers.
8. Produce basic entity financials on a cadence: monthly balance sheets and periodic P&Ls across multiple entities.
9. Handle vendor/administrative tasks that keep the office running: vendor setup, 1099 support, office supplies, and general administrative coordination.

Qualifications:
1. 7+ years in accounting or financial operations with a strong comfort level with all aspects of accounting, financial reporting and cash management.
2. Work experience in a Family Office, family owned enterprise or with a UHNW individual.
3. Strong day-to-day accounting fundamentals: AP, bank reconciliations, intercompany accounting, clean support, and good judgment.
4. Hands-on experience in QuickBooks and comfort working across multiple entities at once. Quickbooks Online a plus.
5. Confident using bank and brokerage portals for wires/ACH/transfers—and careful enough to treat every dollar like it matters.
6. Intermediate level Excel skills at a minimum. Comfort manipulating data and designing templates a must.
7. Pragmatic outlook and user of AI tools.
8. Very organized and deadline-driven; you don’t let recurring work slip.
9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
10. Clear communicator who flags issues early and summarizes what matters without over-explaining.
