Accounting Manager
LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established, global organization within the transportation and logistics sector to add an Accounting Manager to their team. This is a high-visibility role supporting a dynamic, asset-intensive business with both domestic and international operations.
The Accounting Manager will play a key role in overseeing core accounting functions, supporting the month-end close process, and ensuring audit and compliance requirements are met across a global footprint. This individual will also drive financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and continuous process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, technical accounting leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Close & Reporting
- Support and help oversee the month-end close process, ensuring timely preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Prepare and record payroll journal entries and related reconciliations
- Record monthly direct expense accruals and reconcile financial activity, including foreign entities
- Review financial results for completeness and accuracy; analyze variances as needed
- Prepare and review monthly cash flow reporting
- Assist in preparing quarterly financial statements for Treasury
- Provide weekly financial snapshots of SG&A and direct operating expenses to support leadership decision-making
- Partner with the Controller and Director on ad hoc projects and reporting
Audit & Compliance
- Support U.S. interim and year-end audits, including preparation of schedules and coordination with external auditors
- Assist with international statutory audits and related compliance requirements
- Coordinate audit deliverables and respond to auditor inquiries in a timely manner
- Partner with third-party providers on foreign tax filings and local regulatory compliance
- Assist with internal controls testing to ensure processes are properly designed and operating effectively
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and mentor a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment
- Review team deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development support
Process Improvement & Systems
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting operations
- Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable, automated solutions
- Participate in ERP enhancements, including UAT, data validation, and post-implementation support
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
- Strong technical accounting background with experience in a complex, multi-entity environment
- Prior experience within transportation, logistics, or asset-intensive industries a plus
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop and mentor teams
- Experience supporting global operations, including foreign entities and audits
- Systems proficiency (ERP exposure and advanced Excel skills required)
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage competing priorities
