Position: Senior Systems Engineer – Monitoring & Observability (Dynatrace Focus)

NOTE: Look for someone who is a Systems Engineer leveraging Dynatrace to ensure end-to-end observability across our hybrid infrastructure (servers, cloud, and containers) and critical applications. The ideal candidate is a Dynatrace power user who can configure complex monitoring, analyze performance trends, and proactively identify issues before they impact the business from Healthcare Background.

Key Pointers:

• Dynatrace Configuration & Management: Experience configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Dynatrace monitoring solutions, specifically for end-to-end visibility across hybrid infrastructure (Windows/Linux servers) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
• Dashboarding & Alerting: Proven ability to develop and maintain custom Dynatrace dashboards, health checks, and alerting thresholds. Must be able to demonstrate experience of tuning alerts to reduce false positives and noise.
• Application Performance Monitoring (APM): Hands-on experience utilizing Dynatrace for APM to monitor application performance and transaction flows. Must be familiar with PurePath technology for distributed tracing and code-level visibility.
• Synthetic & Real User Monitoring (RUM): Experience configuring and supporting Dynatrace Synthetic monitoring (simulating user journeys) and Real User Monitoring (RUM) to analyze actual end-user experience and browser performance.
• Proactive Incident Identification: Ability to use Dynatrace to proactively identify potential system or application performance issues before they impact production, and to provide monitoring insights during incident troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support and enhance our enterprise monitoring capabilities with a primary focus on Dynatrace. This role will be responsible for monitoring infrastructure, systems, and applications to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in infrastructure monitoring and a solid understanding of application performance monitoring concepts, without requiring deep code-level development expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring & Observability:

Configure, maintain, and optimize monitoring solutions using Dynatrace.

Support end-to-end visibility across infrastructure, systems, and applications.

Develop and maintain dashboards, alerts, and health checks.

Monitor service performance and availability, ensuring timely detection of issues.

Assist in defining and maintaining alert thresholds to reduce false positives.

Infrastructure & Systems Monitoring:

Monitor servers (Windows/Linux), virtual environments, and cloud platforms.

Support monitoring of databases, middleware, and network components.

Partner with infrastructure and cloud teams to identify performance trends and capacity needs.

Proactively identify potential issues before they impact production.

Application Monitoring:

Utilize Dynatrace to monitor application performance and transaction flows.

Support synthetic monitoring and real user monitoring.

Collaborate with application teams to ensure proper monitoring coverage.

Assist in troubleshooting performance issues at the application and system level.

Incident Support:

Participate in incident response efforts related to performance and availability.

Provide monitoring insights during troubleshooting calls.

Support root cause analysis and identify monitoring gaps.

Continuous Improvement:

Help improve monitoring standards and documentation.

Recommend enhancements to monitoring configurations and alerting strategies.

Support integration of monitoring tools with ITSM platforms.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

5+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure support, or monitoring roles.

2+ years of hands-on experience with Dynatrace or a similar APM/monitoring tool.

Experience monitoring:

Windows and Linux servers

Virtualized environments (e.g., VMware)

Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

Basic understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing).

Experience with scripting or automation tools (PowerShell, Bash, or similar) preferred but not required.

Qualifications:

Experience in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, financial services).

Familiarity with Kubernetes or container monitoring.

Knowledge of ITIL practices.

Key Competencies

Ability to interpret monitoring data and system performance metrics.

Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
