Location: Owings Mills, MD (3 days in office)
Compensation: Up to $150,000 base + 15% bonus
Reports To: CFO & Chief HR Officer

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a high-growth organization seeking a Global Payroll Senior Manager to lead a critical, highly strategic function. This is an opportunity for a forward-thinking payroll leader to step into a role with Director-level visibility and impact, helping shape and scale payroll operations during a period of rapid expansion.

If you’re someone who enjoys building, improving, and influencing at a strategic level—while still staying close enough to execution to drive results—this role offers the best of both worlds.

The Role

This position goes beyond traditional payroll management. We are looking for a leader who can evaluate the current state, introduce best practices, and drive meaningful change across systems, processes, and teams.

You will partner directly with executive leadership and play a key role in aligning payroll with broader Finance and HR strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee end-to-end global payroll operations with a focus on scalability and accuracy
  • Lead process transformation initiatives, including automation and standardization
  • Act as a strategic partner to Finance and HR leadership on payroll-related initiatives
  • Assess, optimize, and enhance payroll systems and workflows (Workday experience strongly preferred)
  • Establish and strengthen controls, compliance, and governance frameworks
  • Lead and develop payroll staff, while also elevating the overall function
  • Support organizational growth, including expansion into new regions or acquisitions
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with HRIS, Finance, and IT teams
Who We’re Looking For
  • 7+ years of payroll experience, with progressive leadership or ownership of function
  • Experience operating at a strategic level, even if your current title is Senior Manager
  • Track record of driving change, process improvement, or system enhancements
  • Exposure to multi-entity or global payroll environments
  • Workday Payroll experience strongly preferred
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and partner cross-functionally
  • Hands-on mindset paired with a big-picture, forward-looking approach
Why This Role Stands Out
  • Director-level scope and visibility without needing the title
  • Direct exposure to and partnership with the CFO and CHRO
  • Opportunity to build and modernize payroll in a growing organization
  • Competitive compensation + bonus
  • Hybrid flexibility in a collaborative environment
