This is not a “sit behind the desk and delegate” kind of leadership role. We’re looking for someone who thrives on building strong client relationships, developing people, solving problems, and jumping in wherever needed. You’ll lead a team of five Accounting Specialists while helping create an environment built on accountability, collaboration, and high standards — all while keeping the client experience at the center of everything we do.

What You Will Do:

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Conduct regular client check-ins and quarterly reviews.
  • Manage scope, profitability, and client satisfaction.
  • Identify new client opportunities.
  • Escalate client concerns and accounting challenges when needed.
  • Oversee and manage Accounting Specialist schedules and client assignments.
  • Review month-end closes and resolve outstanding tasks.
  • Provide backup accounting support as needed.
  • Ensure processes, procedures, and best practices are followed.
  • Collaborate with leadership to support client success and operations.
  • Mentor, coach, manage, and support Accounting Specialists.
  • Conduct one-on-ones, training sessions, and performance reviews.
  • Provide feedback and hold team members accountable.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training initiatives.
  • Maintain accounting expertise and support continuous improvement.
  • Participate in team meetings, events, and networking opportunities.
  • Uphold company core values and promote a positive team environment.
  • Pursue ongoing personal and professional development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting experience required
  • Prior management experience required
  • Construction or contracting industry experience preferred
  • Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Proficient in QuickBooks and Excel
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Results-driven with high integrity and dependability
  • Must reside in the Charlotte area and travel to client sites up to 10% of the time
