The position requires deep expertise in mine water management, strong client presence, and the ability to integrate technical solutions from concept through design and construction.
The successful candidate will support mining clients across the full project lifecycle — planning, permitting, construction, operations, and closure — while collaborating with engineering, construction, and environmental teams to deliver integrated, fit‑for‑purpose solutions. This is an opportunity to influence technical outcomes and business success while mentoring talent and shaping best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide senior technical leadership for mine water management planning and execution.
- Lead strategies and analyses including water balance, groundwater/surface water interaction, water quality, treatment, reuse, and conservation.
- Direct hydrologic, hydraulic, and hydrogeologic analyses, including watershed evaluations and risk‑informed modeling.
- Support design of mine water infrastructure (ponds, impoundments, conveyance, treatment systems).
- Serve as senior technical interface with mining clients, guiding decision‑making.
- Contribute to proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, and pursuit strategies.
- Manage projects with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety.
- Lead development and application of mine water balance models and risk‑based analyses.
- Mentor engineers and scientists, supporting technical development and best practices.
- Collaborate with permitting, remediation, engineering, and construction teams to deliver integrated solutions.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, chemical, or mechanical engineering, or related field.
- 13+ years of progressive experience in mine water management, water resources, hydrogeology, or related fields.
- Experience with mine water balance development, modeling, and hydrologic/hydrogeologic data interpretation.
- Client interface and proposal development experience.
- Project management experience with accountability for scope, schedule, and budget.
- Experience supporting projects through design and construction.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and provide senior‑level technical judgment.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Professional licensure (PE, PG) or ability to obtain.
- Experience in mine permitting, operations, closure, and reclamation.
- Familiarity with modeling tools (GoldSim, HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS, MODFLOW).
- Experience with probabilistic or risk‑informed approaches.
- Background in mine closure planning, tailings water considerations, or long‑term stewardship.
