Mechanical Engineer

Talisman has partnered with a fast-growing technology company, as they go-to-market for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to work on advanced systems deployed in demanding outdoor environments. This is a hands-on, field-intensive role at the intersection of mechanical engineering, robotics, and real-world deployment. Based in Sacramento with regular travel across California.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test mechanical systems and components from concept through to field deployment.
• Conduct structural, thermal, kinematic, and mechanical analyses to validate performance under real-world outdoor conditions.
• Collaborate across electrical, controls, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Participate in fieldwork, live system testing, troubleshooting, and data collection.
• Manage CAD models, drawings, and engineering documentation to manufacturing readiness.
• Work with vendors, fabricators, and contract manufacturers on prototypes, sourcing, and production.

Requirements

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with dynamic, electromechanical, or automated systems.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.
• Proven ability to take designs from concept through to field deployment.
• Comfort working in outdoor, field, and test-site environments.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
