Accounting Manager

The Bolton Group is partnering with a rapidly scaling professional sports and live events organization seeking an Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations across multiple business units.

This is a high-visibility leadership role supporting a fast-paced, event-driven environment with complex sponsorship, ticketing, player-related, and multi-entity revenue streams. The ideal candidate will bring strong GAAP expertise, ASC 606 knowledge, team leadership, and a process-improvement mindset.

This HYBRID role requires 2 days in the office weekly.

What You’ll Own

• Lead daily accounting operations
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Oversee player-related accruals and related accounting activities
• Supervise, mentor, and develop a small team
• Manage sponsorship revenue accounting, including:

-ASC 606 revenue recognition

-customer billing and collections

-commission calculations and payouts

• Partner with internal teams to ensure accurate contract setup, billing schedules, and revenue timing
• Serve as the primary lead for the annual external audit
• Coordinate tax filings and sales tax compliance, particularly for ticketing and registration revenue
• Support accounting oversight for additional business entities and revenue programs
• Drive process improvements, policy documentation, automation, and systems enhancements

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including people leadership
• Strong expertise in U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition
• Experience in multi-entity, high-volume, or operationally complex environments
• Background in audit coordination, tax compliance, and sales tax
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Experience in sports, entertainment, media, ticketing, or event-driven businesses
