Position Purpose
supporting modern energy and industrial infrastructure applications. The role will contribute to engineering initiatives involving system reliability, efficiency improvements, advanced monitoring technologies, and evolving power distribution requirements.
The position plays a key role in developing high-performance, cost-effective, and environmentally conscious solutions while supporting innovation, operational excellence, and long-term infrastructure modernization efforts.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design mechanical parts, assemblies, and sub-systems that meet technical performance, safety, and cost objectives for medium- and high-voltage transformer applications, up to 69 kV and 20 MVA capacity.
- Conduct engineering analyses and computational modeling, including mechanical stress evaluation, weight distribution, thermal performance, and cooling system effectiveness.
- Create detailed mechanical arrangements and cooling configurations to ensure structural stability and effective heat dissipation in accordance with customer requirements.
- Design winding structures and insulation systems to ensure high-voltage reliability and optimized thermal behavior.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and testing departments across local and international sites.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, and provide engineering input during customer communications and technical discussions.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to improve production efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance product robustness.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable global standards and regulations, including IEEE, ASME, ISO, and UL requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, product development, or related engineering functions.
- Strong proficiency in mechanical design software, simulation tools, and 3D CAD platforms, particularly SolidWorks.
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems, structural materials, thermal dynamics, and fluid behavior principles.
- Working knowledge of transformer components including core materials, winding configurations, insulation systems, electromagnetic principles, and cooling/fluid systems.
- Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within global, cross-functional teams.
- Experience with SAP or similar enterprise systems is considered an advantage.
- Familiarity with design automation within SolidWorks is a plus.
