Global Edge Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Flight Sciences Group supporting the FBM D5LE2 Loads & Dynamics.
What does this role look like?
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to perform detailed structural sizing, supporting design studies to optimize structures and meet program requirements.
• Conduct linear and non-linear static, dynamics and fatigue analyses using Siemens NX (equivalent FEMAP) and hand calculations through Roark, Niu, Bruhn, etc.
• Develop and validate high fidelity FEM models (meshing strategy, material definition, boundary conditions).
• Perform load case generation and factor of safety assessment for critical structures.
• Generating stress analysis technical memorandums and reports to support data packages, peer reviews, and external customer reviews.
• Support development of weight-optimized, compliant flightworthy components and structural assemblies which satisfy the contractual design criteria as well as any producibility requirements defined by Manufacturing and Quality Engineering.
• Produce clear, concise analysis reports, design briefs, and risk mitigation packages.
Important Details
• The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Englewood, CO.
• Must be a US Citizen, and currently possess and be able to maintain a US DoD TOP SECRET clearance, to support government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Basic Qualifications:
To be successful, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:
• Experience with Finite Element Modeling using NX NASTRAN or equivalent (such as FEMAP, etc.)
• Knowledge and applicable experience to aerospace programs such as aircraft, UAV, missile, or space platforms.
• Experience performing classical hand calculations and mechanical joint analyses.
• Active SECRET security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance; US Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills:
• Master’s degree in a structural analysis focused discipline.
• Mechanisms, antenna, electronic component, ground support, hoisting, and test support equipment, and composite materials analysis experience
• Experience with MATLAB
• Non-linear, fracture & fatigue, and buckling analysis experience
• Static, vibration, acoustic, modal, shock test experience of aerospace flight hardware
• Knowledge of how to apply new and advanced analytical techniques necessary to perform structural analysis
• Experience with composite material modeling and laminate theory.
• Ability to communicate highly technical content to any level of audience
• Ability to work in a collaborative and highly integrated team environment
• Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks and drive to closure quickly and efficiently
• Active Top Secret security clearance
