Medical Director - Occupational Health
Primary Purpose:
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Medical Director specializing in Occupational Health to lead and oversee clinical operations within our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality occupational health services, compliance with regulatory standards, and the integration of innovative clinical practices. This role offers an opportunity to shape the strategic direction of occupational health programs while maintaining excellence in patient care and operational efficiency. The Medical Director holds a primarily administrative position. The primary purpose of the Medical Director is to evaluate and make decisions about candidate and employee medical ability to safely perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Key Responsibilities:
Principal Duties:
- Review medical cases with respect to employees who have been injured, ill or otherwise restricted from performing their duties for medical reasons for the purpose of determining whether a given employee is medically fit to return to his or her specific duties.
- Provide recommendations with each case review as to whether a current employee or an offeree for NS employment is medically fit for his or her specific duties with NS.
- Provide input, as needed, on placement and removal from Short-term and Long-term Disability classification.
- Serve as a medical consultant to supervisors, employees and outside health care providers regarding our Medical department policies, guidelines, any fitness for service concerns and other medical issues.
- Assist the Chief Medical Officer in developing and updating Medical department programs, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Job Related Experience:
Minimum Level: 3-5 years of Occupational Medicine experience in clinical setting
Preferred: In addition to the above, some exposure to Corporate Occupational Medicine and clinical experience in primary care field
Education:
Required Level: Doctor of Medicine/Osteopathy with completed residency in ABMS specialty
Preferred: Board Certification in Occupational and Environmental Medicine
Licenses / Certifications:
Required: Valid Medical License – Georgia. Listed on National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME)
Preferred: Board Certification in Occupational Medicine, Medical Review Officer Certification; ACLS certification
