Primary Responsibilities of the Central Office Technician:
Install and build out telecommunications infrastructure including racks, cabinets, and network equipment
Run, terminate, and test fiber optic and copper cabling in central office environments
Work with cable racking systems, fiber duct, and structured cabling installations
Read and execute work based on blueprints, schematics, and MOPs
Perform testing, troubleshooting, and quality checks to ensure network reliability
Decommission and remove legacy equipment as part of upgrade projects
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environments
Lead crews on-site and coordinate daily project activities
Serve as the go-to technical expert for complex installs and troubleshooting
Mentor and train junior technicians
Interface with project stakeholders and ensure project milestones are met
Qualifications of the Central Office Technician:
Level II: 1.5+ years of telecom, cabling, or infrastructure installation experience
Level III: 4 years of experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities
Hands-on experience with fiber optics, copper cabling, and/or DC power systems
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
Comfort working in fast-paced, team-oriented environments
Willingness to travel regularly for projects
Preferred Qualifications of the Central Office Technician:
Experience in central offices, data centers, or network deployment environments
Prior experience leading teams or job sites (Level III)
Familiarity with fiber testing tools, certification equipment, or advanced cabling standards
Strong communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
