Staff Accountant

I am with an accounting search firm and I am working with a company in the area looking to fill a Staff Accountant position. This role reports directly to the CFO and there is a great deal of exposure to all things accounting. They are well established and stable. In addition, they offer extremely generous benefits (100% health care for employee and 4 weeks PTO to start!).

Salary: up to 75K base

Key Responsibilities for the Staff Accountant:

• Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including invoice review, payment processing, collections follow-up, and maintaining accurate customer and vendor balances.
• Ensure timely and accurate recording of all AR/AP transactions, resolving discrepancies and coordinating with vendors, customers, and internal teams as needed.
• Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger.
• Support month-end and year-end close by performing account reconciliations and preparing supporting documentation.
• Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations to validate financial activity and identify variances.
• Maintain financial records in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Create and manage purchase orders for inventory and operational needs, ensuring accurate product details, pricing, and vendor information.
• Record purchasing activity and financial transactions within QuickBooks and ensure proper classification.
• Maintain organized accounting files and supporting documentation for audit readiness and internal controls.
• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing requested schedules and supporting materials.
• Collaborate with internal departments, vendors, and suppliers to ensure accurate documentation and timely processing of transactions.
• Monitor financial activity to ensure adherence to company policies and established accounting procedures.
• Support additional accounting and administrative responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications for the Staff Accountant:

• Bachelor’s Degree or AA Degree
• 1+ years of AR/AP experience
• Motivation and willingness to learn and grow
• Great attention to detail
• Past QuickBooks experience or working in the Government Contracting industry is a plus!
