The Role: Business Immigration Paralegal
Business Immigration Paralegal is responsible for assisting attorneys with preparing and filing immigration benefits petitions and applications. Under attorney supervision, you'll collect and assess client information, gather and organize documents, draft immigration forms, memoranda, and correspondence, maintain and organize client files, and communicate with clients and other related parties.
Primary Responsibilities
• Assist attorney with drafting, compiling, and preparing petitions and applications for U.S. immigration benefits, including nonimmigrant and immigrant visas, adjustment of status, naturalization, and other related processes
• Collect case information, gather and assess supporting documents, and organize draft submissions for attorney review
• Draft and send client correspondence, notices, and alerts
• Maintain accurate records of case matter status and submission deadlines
• Monitor government correspondence and alerts, identify items for attorney attention and review
• Maintain client files (physical and digital)
• Conduct regular communication with clients and other related parties
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all client interactions
• Assist with document scanning, printing, and organization
• Manage case filing and coordinate shipping of legal submissions
• Track retainers and assist with billing matters as needed
• Support other office operations, as needed
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, OR Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program
Writing Skills: Strong writing ability with attention to clarity, accuracy, and professional tone.
Professional Demeanor and Conduct: Reliable, detail-focused, and committed to maintaining strict client confidentiality and professional standards. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in legal documents and case files
Organization: Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously
Computer Proficiency: Must be familiar with and proficient using Microsoft Office products and other software applications common in professional offices.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively with attorneys, coworkers, and clients
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior legal experience or internship in a law firm
• Proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English
• Familiarity with immigration law concepts or prior exposure to the field
• Experience with legal practice management software or document management systems
• Experience with federal immigration forms (I-130, I-140, I-765, I-131, N-400, etc.)
Compensation
Salary: Competitive salary; negotiable and commensurate with experience and includes an attractive benefits package
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday
Location: In-office, Charlotte, NC
