Medical Technician
Job Summary
This position is responsible for the prompt and accurate performance of routine, molecular, and genetic laboratory procedures as assigned by the Technical Supervisor and Laboratory Director.
Responsibilities
Performs diagnostic test procedures accurately in accordance with the written policies and procedures.
Processes specimens and collects samples (as needed).
Adheres to quality control protocols.
Performs and documents prescribed maintenance procedures as instructed. Is capable of operating and calibrating laboratory equipment.
Exercises independent judgment in error identification and problem solving.
Reports work accurately, legibly, and in accordance with the criteria for abnormal and critical values to clients.
Work efficiently and respond to stats and other priority tests to provide optimum patient care.
Interact professionally with lab personnel and with clients.
Complies with universal precautions and adheres to safety standards and practices.
Utilizes the laboratory computer system and will be assigned to the security level appropriate to the job.
Assists with maintenance of a QC program.
Helps monitor and improve test turnaround time.
Familiar with computer testing environment.
Follow HIPAA rules and regulations.
Promote the philosophy and mission of Ipseity Lab within the company and with clients.
Report any compliance issues or concerns to the Technical Supervisor.
Perform inventory as needed.
Any additional duties as assigned by Management.
Job Qualifications
Education/Training/Experience
• Minimum one year of clinical experience — consideration may be given to a new graduate.
• Associate degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution.
• Must have MLT or CLS (ASCP, NCA) certification.
