The Position
Chief Medical Officer
Contra Costa Health Plan is seeking a mission-driven physician executive to serve as Chief Medical Officer for one of California's most unique and integrated public managed care organizations.
Reporting directly to Irene Lo, MD, Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Medical Officer serves as the senior physician executive for Contra Costa Health Plan and a key member of the Executive Leadership Team.
The CMO will provide executive leadership across clinical strategy, medical management, quality improvement, utilization management, population health, regulatory compliance, care coordination, and provider engagement initiatives.
The Chief Medical Officer oversees the Plan's Medical Management infrastructure, which includes both Clinical Management and Clinical Operations functions supporting care management, utilization management, pharmacy, quality, health equity, population health, grievances and appeals, clinical programs, and broader medical strategy execution.
Working closely with executive leadership, provider partners, County stakeholders, Contra Costa Regional Medical Center leadership, and broader Contra Costa Health leadership, the CMO will help advance quality outcomes, operational effectiveness, health equity initiatives, and long-term sustainability across a large and complex managed care organization.
