Job Description
Join a fast-paced metal recycling operation as a General Production Worker, where you support daily yard activities by handling, sorting, and processing scrap metal safely and efficiently. You will perform a variety of general labor tasks in an industrial outdoor environment, working closely with a team to maintain productivity, safety, and cleanliness across the facility.
Shift: 7:30am-4:30pm
Pay Rate: $16-$17/hour
Must be comfortable working outdoors
Responsibilities
- Operate torch equipment to cut and break down scrap metal, when assigned to torch-related duties, following all safety guidelines.
- Sort and separate metals by type and grade to ensure accurate processing and maximize material value.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials, including scrap metal and related products, using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by regularly removing debris, sweeping, and following housekeeping standards.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions while performing physically demanding tasks throughout the shift.
Essential Skills
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly throughout the workday.
- Comfort working in an industrial and outdoor environment, including exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Strong reliability with consistent attendance and dependable transportation to and from the worksite.
- Willingness to perform general labor and production tasks in a fast-paced setting.
Work Environment
This position is based in an active metal recycling yard and involves working outdoors in a physically demanding, industrial setting. You will work around heavy equipment, moving vehicles, and large quantities of scrap metal in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Conditions can include exposure to heat, cold, wind, and other weather elements throughout the year. Safety is a top priority, and employees must wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and follow all safety procedures.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Hagerstown, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
