Associate Attorney - newly barred associates welcome to apply

Waddell Serafino is seeking an Associate Attorney with 3–5 years of experience in commercial finance, real estate, and/or corporate litigation and transactional matters to join its Dallas office.

This role involves working closely with shareholders to represent banks, financial institutions, and borrowers in matters related to commercial lending and commercial real estate, with a strong focus on complex commercial litigation.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Texas
• 3–5 years of relevant legal experience
• Strong background in civil litigation, particularly commercial finance, real estate, and/or corporate matters
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to travel as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a docket of complex litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Draft motions, pleadings, memoranda, briefs, and legal correspondence
• Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, case law, and legal codes
• Manage all phases of discovery, including:
• Written discovery requests and responses
• Electronic document production
• Taking and defending depositions
• Develop case strategy and oversee case management
• Prepare for and attend hearings, depositions, trials, and appeals
• Handle matters involving:
• Business torts
• Breach of contract
• Banking regulations
• Corporate governance
• Fraud
• Foreign judgments
• Injunctions
• Real estate disputes
• Pre-litigation strategy
• Complex discovery and e-discovery
• Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel
• Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff
