LOCATION: Southern New Mexico (in-person leadership role)
We are seeking an experienced Director of Medical Surgical Services to lead inpatient Med/Surg and Telemetry units within a mid-size, for-profit acute care facility. This senior nursing leader is responsible for operational excellence, clinical quality, staff development, and fiscal stewardship across assigned units.
The Director plays a key role in building high-performing teams, advancing quality initiatives, and ensuring regulatory readiness while fostering a strong culture of engagement, accountability, and patient-centered care.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic and operational leadership for Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units
Lead, mentor, and develop nursing leaders and frontline staff
Drive quality, safety, and patient experience initiatives
Oversee staffing models, productivity, and departmental budgets
Ensure compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and clinical standards
Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures
Partner with interdisciplinary leaders and providers to support care delivery
Support change management and rapid implementation of process improvements
Active (or eligible) New Mexico RN license / Compact License / or by endorsement
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required
Minimum 7 years of overall healthcare experience, including 3+ years in progressive nursing leadership
Prior experience with budget management, productivity, and program development
Demonstrated success building teams focused on quality and performance improvement
Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
Master’s degree (MSN, Healthcare Administration, or MBA)
Experience in a for-profit acute care environment
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and providers
BLS and ACLS required
