Job Description Summary

This role provides executive clinical oversight for the joint venture facility between AdventHealth and University of Chicago Medicine at GlenOaks, a 145-bed hospital.

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will serve as the key executive leading transformation of patient, provider, and community experience to best in class for the organization. As a member of the executive cabinet, the CMO will seek to align and engage key clinical and operational leaders on performance improvement and transformative change centered around all aspects of patient, provider, and community experience. These initiatives will be coordinated across multiple disciplines, with input from hospital and ambulatory leaders and providers to align the operational strategy and strategic vision of AdventHealth. The CMO will have executive operational oversight over both clinical and non-clinical hospital departments. The CMO will have executive oversight over the business development department. The CMO will serve as the facilitator, coordinator, and liaison for all medical affairs inclusive of regulatory compliance with respect to medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations. In addition, the CMO will serve as the lead executive over Risk Management, Quality and Patient Safety and the credentialing process for the medical staff.

Job Description

• Lead the integration to fully optimize hospital services, medical group, professional service agreements, joint ventures and independent physicians to deliver the highest level of quality and experience to our consumers. Has the ability to effectively develop business plans and execute on business goals of quality, experience, volume, and finance.

• Provide strategic and operational guidance and executive oversight for the business transformation efforts around the health systems key service lines and procedural volume.

• Provide executive oversight and integration through a matrix reporting structure of AdventHealth's key clinical service lines in the market.

• Provide executive oversight and integration through a matrix reporting structure of AdventHealth's joint ventures, professional service agreements, and employed medical group physicians. Executive oversight maybe inclusive of clinical and management services coordinated by providers.

• Encourages managers to adopt new approaches and embrace large-scale change, such as using cross-functional teams. Has the ability to drive the transformation effort from top down, connecting the perspective of frontline teams to their overarching strategy and vision.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead the development of system wide strategies to streamline ambulatory and clinical service line operations to improve patient experience and oversee the planning, development, execution, and measurement of implementation initiatives.

• Determine the feasibility of new initiatives to improve service quality and enhance patient access.

• Provide input to ambulatory care centers development and operations, identify and develop strategies to remove barriers to improve patient experience.

• Collaborate with executive cabinet in providing administrative input to service lines and evaluate effectiveness of service line operations in achieving system wide goals and optimizing patient and provider experience.

• Lead the design of goals, metrics and incentives that ensure the organization focuses on optimizing/transforming patient and provider experience.

Medical Officer Responsibilities:

• Primary Executive point of contact for employed and independent physicians and providers.

• Responsible for medical students rotating through AdventHealth inpatient and outpatient sites.

• Provides leadership for EMR optimization for our medical staff.

• Collaborate with the Medical Staff leadership for the ongoing monitoring of provider practice quality. This includes responsibility for counseling, advising, and implementing Focused Provider Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and On-going Provider Practice Evaluation (OPPE).

• Serves as physician advisor to the Care Management team reviewing appropriateness of admission and managing Length of Stay.

• Responsible for medical affairs program including coordinating activities related to provider's wellness and engagement.

• Hospital executive leader for AdventHealth Bolingbrook/GlenOaks' Physician Services which includes employed primary care and specialist physicians and mid-level providers.

• Provide strategic oversight and guidance for the facility's patient and workforce safety, ensuring clear goals, effective governance structures, and leadership accountability.

• Foster and sustain a facility-wide culture of safety that emphasizes psychological safety, continuous learning from harm and near-miss events, and meaningful engagement of patients, families, and the workforce.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proven effectiveness in building and maintaining strong physician relations within the hospital, medical group and independent physicians. [Required]

• Working experience collaborating with medical directors of services and administration executives to achieve desired outcomes. [Required]

• The ability to articulate and demonstrate commitment to the integration of AdventHealth's mission and vision in the clinical and business operations at every level of the organization. [Required]

• Thorough knowledge of the healthcare industry, particularly on evolving environmental and evidence-based healthcare trends. [Required]

• Demonstrated capability to balance the needs and requirements of a system, local facility, medical group, and independent aligned physician group. [Required]

• Demonstrated commitment to working as a visible senior leader available to help represent AdventHealth in the community, establish new and strengthen existing strategic relationships when called upon. [Required]

• Excellent communication skills and ability to inspire others and build consensus towards a shared vision. [Required]

Education:

• Medical Degree with board certification in related field. [Required]

• An advanced degree in health service, public health business administration, healthcare administration, business administration or related field is required. [Required]

Work Experience:

• The CMO should have five to ten years or greater of progressive leadership and management experience in healthcare. [Required]

• Strong cross-functional background in a variety of clinical and business responsibilities including patient experience, engagement, and activation; access center operations, and health equity. [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Board certification in related field [Required]

Compensation:

Minimum - $323,200

Maximum - $452,480
