Position Summary:

The coordinator for engagement and access plans, implements and assesses programs and initiatives to promote student engagement, expands access to campus resources and opportunities, and enhances a welcoming campus environment through events, outreach and collaborative partnerships.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate and execute heritage and cultural celebrations and educational programs (e.g., Hispanic Heritage Month, Native American Heritage Month, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, etc.).

  • Coordinate programs and initiatives which support access, engagement and retention opportunities for various student populations.

  • Collaborate with campus departments, student organizations and community partners to enhance student outreach and engagement efforts.

  • Serve as a liaison and advisor for special interest student organizations, providing guidance, leadership development and programming support as needed.

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of campus-wide educational, cultural and community-building initiatives.

  • Support daily office operations and assist with administrative functions within the Multicultural Center.

  • Serve on relevant campus committees and represent the Multicultural Center at university and community events.

  • Assist with communication and marketing strategies, including social media management, event promotion, digital communications, outreach campaigns and the development of promotional materials.

  • Meet biweekly with student programmers and provide support for event planning and implementation as appropriate.

  • Track, assess, and maintain engagement data, attendance records and program outcomes for events and initiatives.

  • Prepare and submit monthly reports detailing center activities, program participation, outreach efforts and assessment outcomes to the supervisor.

  • Support evening and occasional weekend programming and events as needed.

  • Assist with the supervision, training and coordination of the Multicultural Center graduate assistant, student workers, ambassadors and volunteers as needed.

  • Assist with the coordination of the Multicultural Center Ambassador Program as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of student engagement and campus programming principles and practices.

• Knowledge of event planning, outreach strategies and program assessment methods.

• Knowledge of social media management, marketing and promotional strategies.

• Knowledge of supervisory practices, leadership development and team coordination.

• Knowledge of educational programming and student development concepts.

• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to develop, coordinate and facilitate educational and cultural programs.

• Ability to build collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff and community partners.

• Ability to supervise, train and coordinate student staff and volunteers.

• Ability to collect, analyze and report engagement and assessment data.

• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

• Ability to prepare reports, promotional content and professional correspondence.

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday

9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Additional hours as requested and/or needed including frequent evening hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of an earned Bachelor's Degree.

Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.
