Supports research projects and activities in connection with CUNY programs
- May assist faculty research groups by configuring and testing equipment, collecting and organizing data, and preparing documentation.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The CUNY School of Medicine (CSOM) at The City College of New York (CCNY), is the only medical school in the City University of New York system. Our innovative curriculum allows students to complete both their undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees in seven years. CSOM graduated its first MD class in 2020. In addition, CSOM offers a two-year Physician Assistant (PA) program to prepare health professionals licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. The mission of the CSOM is 1) to provide access to medical and PA education to talented youth from social, ethnic, and racial backgrounds historically underrepresented in medicine and to develop health professionals committed to practicing in under-served communities with a special emphasis on primary care and 2) to perform innovative research in community health and biomedicine.
The successful candidate will hold the title of Research Assistant, a full time position within the Department of Medical Education. The appointee will report to the Chair of the Department of Medical Education and support the efforts of the Advancing Health Professions Education Laboratory. This postion is a combination of clerical and reseach activities. The candidate will be responsible for clerical components of grant administration, IRB applications, budget tracking, and manuscript submission. The ideal candidate will be organized and attendtive to detail and encouraged and supported in participating in aspects of research projects based on ability and interest. On the job training will be provided.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Coordinate and support lab related operations: scheduling lab meetings, maintaining agendas, and preparing, distributing, and archiving meeting minutes and records, budget tracking, IRB application submission and travel arrangements.
  • Provide pre- and post-award grants clerical support, including preparation of submission materials and post-award compliance monitoring.
  • Assist with abstract submission and presentation preparation for conferences and scientific meetings
  • Contribute to manuscript preparation, submission, tracking, and resubmission processes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience relevant to the research being performed.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
PREFERRED:
  • Ability to adapt and learn new software programs and willing to learn simple databased design and maintainence
  • Familiar with conducting literature reviews using PubMed, and managing citations using EndNote
  • Experience with grant writing ad IRB protocols.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfort writing and editing in English, preferably in an academic setting
  • Research Experience in any field.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated commitment to developing, implementing and maintaining efficient procedures
  • Interest in health professions education
  • More than one year experience in grants management

COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $47,063 - $59,890
Sakary commensurate with education and experience.
