This role requires sensitivity to diverse religious, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, ensuring respectful and personalized care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver pastoral care addressing the spiritual and emotional needs of patients, families, and staff.
- Communicate effectively and promptly with all stakeholders.
- Facilitate support groups and participate in bereavement services.
- Maintain accurate records of pastoral care activities and complete required documentation.
- Arrange or provide religious rites as appropriate upon request.
- Oversee specific departmental programs and collaborate with colleagues on service development.
- Contribute to spiritual awareness through writing devotions and communications.
- Assist patients and families in understanding and executing Advanced Medical Directives.
- Participate in patient rounds and care conferences, offering insights on spiritual dynamics.
- Attend staff meetings and perform administrative duties as needed.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Master of Divinity or equivalent from an accredited seminary or university.
- Ordination and ecclesiastical endorsement from the appropriate religious body.
- Minimum of 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE); 4 units including a 1-year residency preferred.
- Board eligibility by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) required; Clinical Membership in ACPE preferred.
- At least 5 years in parish-based ministry preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a healthcare-related field preferred.
