Position: Extended School Year Special Education Teaching Assistant

Building: North, West, Northern Transition, Southern Transition

Openings: Anticipating 24 openings. Positions will be filled based on student enrollment

Position Type: Assistants will serve as a resource to all special education students enrolled in ESY

Compensation: AFSCME positions, please see the AFSCME contract

Start Date: June 4, 2026

Extended School Year Dates/Times:

• In Service and Meet and Greet: June 4, 2026
• Attendance Days: June 8th - July 16th, 2026 Monday - Thursday (Staff hours 8:00 - 11:30). No school on July 6th.

Qualifications:

• Candidates must have a current, valid Illinois Paraprofessional License, substitute license, valid Illinois Teaching Certificate registered in DuPage County
• Knowledge of best practices as it relates to supporting (all) students' ability to learn
• Must have appropriate computer software experience; and the ability to operate office equipment, perform some data entry, and maintain records
• Strong communications skills (both oral and written)
• Strong organizational skills
• Must maintain confidentiality with regards to student records

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist teacher with instructional and classroom management
• The physical demands are within the industry norm. While performing the job, the employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, lift, talk, see and/or hear, as well as to be able to operate duplicating machines and computer equipment
