The City of Bangor has a unique opportunity for the right candidate interested in making a difference! The Nourish ME Nutrition Educator positions will be funded through the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), a program funded through September 30, 2030 by the US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to support rural population health care innovations and new access points to promote preventative health and address root causes of disease. In Maine, Nourish ME (the Nutrition Education Program component of the RHTP) will promote population health through evidence-based nutrition education and public health interventions for all Mainers and the health care organizations that serve them.
This position will support the facilitation of a sustainable nutrition education infrastructure for chronic disease prevention and management in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties. The role will also implement evidence-based Food Is Medicine strategies that complement and integrate with Nourish ME. This position focuses on building community partnerships, strengthening food access infrastructure, nutrition education, and embedding Food Is Medicine approaches within clinical and community systems. The candidate will work independently, be well-organized, and possess a strong attention to detail. This position will be required to keep detailed records for reporting and evaluation. Frequent travel to sites throughout the local service area (Penobscot and Piscataquis counties) and occasional overnight travel to statewide trainings (1-2 per year) is required. This position is a full-time (37.5 hours per week) with a comprehensive benefits package. Highlights include:

This position's full salary range is $24.45 to $32.90 per hour and is nonexempt.
Minimum Requirements
Successful candidates will possess:
  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, public health, exercise science, health education or behavioral sciences; or comparable experience required.
  • Experience delivering evidence-based nutrition education programs across the lifespan is preferable.
  • Experience with community centered public health interventions desired.
  • Experience developing and maintaining diverse community partnerships required.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing program needs.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, other City departments, and general public in a courteous and tactful manner.
  • Experience as Registered Dietitians, Public Health and Nutrition professionals preferred.
