The City Surveyor leads and performs professional land surveying services essential to the planning, design, and construction of public infrastructure. This position manages all surveying functions for the Department, ensures the accuracy and integrity of survey data, and provides expert technical support to engineering and project management staff to support the successful delivery of public works projects for the City of Wausau. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in shaping and supporting the City's infrastructure projects, from initial planning through construction. The City Surveyor works both in the field and in the office, collaborating closely with engineering staff, contractors, and the community. The typical schedule is 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Starting hourly rate of $31.56 or higher depending on qualifications. This position will be posted until filled, with initial application review starting on April 20th.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCandidates with a Professional Land Surveyor license from a state other than Wisconsin are welcome to apply. Reciprocity must be obtained through the State of Wisconsin DSPS prior to hire.

Physical and Working Environment: The City Surveyor works both in the field and in the office, collaborating closely with engineering staff, contractors, and the community. Work may involve outdoor field conditions in a variety of weather environments, as well as office-based technical and design work. Occasional travel within the City is required.
