Step into a rewarding role making a difference for students by utilizing your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter. This full-time, on-site opportunity runs through the end of the school year and is based within an educational setting near Central City, NE. As a valued interpreter, you will help facilitate inclusive communication for students and staff while contributing to a supportive learning environment.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and skilled interpreting in educational settings
- Experience supporting students in K-12 preferred
- Certification and/or relevant credentials for sign language interpretation, as required by the state
- Ability to work collaboratively with education professionals and effectively support IEP goals
- Strong communication skills, reliability, and professionalism
- Comfortable confirming student age and providing services on-site per client request
- Deliver accurate, clear interpretation between spoken English and ASL for students, teachers, and staff during classroom lessons, events, and meetings
- Ensure full access to classroom content and discussions for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Maintain confidentiality, adhere to ethical standards, and support a positive, inclusive school culture
- Work closely with case managers and special education teams, reporting on student progress as needed
- Adapt interpreting methods as needed for diverse learning needs and environments
- Participate in relevant meetings or professional development if requested
