Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D
  • Graduated from an Accredited Medical Assistant Program
  • CMA or CCMA certified
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, patients, and representatives of outside agencies
  • Professional demeanor and appearance
  • Demonstrated proficiency in assessing and delivering care to a diverse population
  • Adult, Infant, and Child CPR (BLS) certification
  • Availability to work Monday - Friday between the hours of 8 am - 6 pm, including rotating weekend coverage for Saturday clinic

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Preparation:

  • Take and record vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature) for all patients according to established protocols
  • Perform tests including EKGs, vision and hearing screenings, and oxygen saturation as requested
  • Prepare exam rooms and assist providers as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and health center information
  • Schedule patient appointments and follow-ups
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Oversee provider schedule and patient flow
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager, Director of Nursing (DON), or Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
Maintenance of Lab/Work Areas:
  • Keep work areas, exam rooms, and labs clean and organized
  • Maintain Universal Precautions at all times; follow protocols for blood/body fluid spills
  • Order lab and clinic supplies as needed
  • Inspect supplies in exam rooms and supply closet at least quarterly and document in log books

Laboratory/Clinical Assistance:

  • Review the order sheet and complete requisitions according to insurance/grant requirements
  • Administer vaccines as directed by the provider upon completion of certification
  • Collect and process lab specimens, ensuring specimen integrity
  • Perform urinalysis, hCG, flu, Covid, strep testing, fingerstick blood glucose, hgb, and lead testing
  • Record completed lab work in lab logs daily
  • Autoclave instruments and record weekly spore count

ACO:

  • Assist with quality improvement (QI) projects to support HRSA, UDS, NCC, ACO, and PCMH quality measures

Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in a busy outpatient clinic with direct patient contact
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting required
  • Use of computers, phones, and standard medical office equipment.
  • Must be able to respond quickly in urgent or emergent situations.

Salary Range: $19-$25.53
