Job Description Job Description Job Summary The dental practice of William J. Hefele, D.D.S. is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) to join our patient-centered team in Virginia. Dr. Hefele is committed to providing high-quality, personalized dental care, and we are looking for a professional who shares that same passion for clinical excellence and patient education. In this role, you serve as a frontline advocate for our patients' oral health. You will perform comprehensive screenings, execute precise clinical cleanings, and collaborate directly with Dr. Hefele to develop and implement effective treatment plans. Duties and Responsibilities In addition to standard clinical procedures, the RDH at our practice will: * Patient Advocacy: Prepare patients for exams by reviewing medical histories and addressing specific dental anxieties or concerns. * Clinical Diagnostics: Take high-quality digital X-rays and intraoral images; identify signs of oral cancer, gingivitis, and periodontitis. * Preventative Care: Perform thorough prophylaxis, including supra- and sub-gingival scaling, root planing, and polishing. * Treatment Collaboration: Assist Dr. Hefele during exams by documenting findings in real-time and providing clinical observations to aid in diagnosis. * Patient Education: Tailor oral hygiene instructions to each patient's specific needs, demonstrating proper brushing and flossing techniques and recommending supplemental products. * Periodontal Maintenance: Monitor and record periodontal pocket depths and provide specialized care for patients with advanced gum disease. * Sterilization & Compliance: Maintain a sterile environment according to OSHA and CDC guidelines, ensuring all instruments are properly processed and operatories are disinfected. Requirements and Qualifications * Education: Degree from an ADA-accredited dental hygiene program (Associate or Bachelor's). * Licensure: Valid Virginia Dental Hygienist License in good standing. * Certifications: Current CPR/BLS certification; Local Anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide monitoring certification (highly preferred in the state of Virginia). * Technical Skills: Proficiency with Dentrix or similar dental practice management software; experience with digital radiography and intraoral cameras. * Clinical Expertise: Mastery of scaling and root planing (SRP) and a deep understanding of the link between oral health and systemic health. * Soft Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to build rapport with patients of all ages and communicate complex clinical information in an easy-to-understand manner. * Professionalism: A team-player mentality with a strong work ethic and a commitment to continuing education.
