Orthopedic Medical Assistant
Overview
We are seeking a Medical Assistant to support a high-volume orthopedic clinic team in a fast-paced outpatient setting. This role is hands-on and patient-facing, with a strong focus on assisting providers in orthopedic exams, procedures, and patient treatment support. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a dynamic clinical environment and enjoys direct patient care within a specialty practice.
Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain vitals, chief complaints, and medical histories
- Assist providers during orthopedic examinations and in-office procedures
- Support cast application and removal processes as directed by clinical staff
- Apply and adjust braces, splints, boots, and other orthopedic devices
- Assist with suture and staple removal under provider supervision
- Prepare exam rooms, instruments, and supplies for procedures and injections
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure proper infection control standards
- Provide wound care, including cleaning, dressing changes, and post-procedure care
- Educate patients on cast and brace maintenance, post-care instructions, and proper use of assistive devices (crutches, walkers, etc.)
- Support patient flow, scheduling coordination, and efficient clinic operations
- Document clinical information accurately in the EMR system
- Assist with DME-related patient education and fitting support
- Other clinical and administrative duties as assigned by providers or clinic leadership
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant certification/diploma preferred
- Experience in orthopedics or a specialty clinic strongly preferred
- Comfortable with hands-on patient care in a procedural setting
- BLS certification preferred
- EMR experience preferred

- Strong communication skills and ability to educate patients clearly
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume clinic environment
- Team-oriented with strong attention to detail and patient care focus
- Comfortable supporting multiple providers and adapting to shifting clinical needs
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Occasional travel between clinic sites required based on provider schedule and clinic needs
- Schedule provided in advance
