Direct Counsel is seeking an Insurance Defense Litigation Associate to join a respected and growing litigation practice in Los Angeles. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with insurance defense and civil litigation experience who is looking for hands-on responsibility, courtroom exposure, and the opportunity to work on sophisticated, high-exposure matters.
The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex defense litigation matters, including personal injury, premises liability, products liability, transportation, and habitability claims.
Responsibilities- Defend clients in a broad range of civil litigation matters, including personal injury, premises liability, products liability, transportation litigation, habitability claims, and insurance-related disputes.
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery responses.
- Review and analyze documents for relevance, privilege, and case strategy.
- Handle all phases of litigation, including written discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation.
- Appear at court hearings, settlement conferences, and mediations.
- Prepare exhibits and case materials for depositions, hearings, and trial.
- Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel.
- Assist in developing litigation strategy and achieving favorable outcomes for clients.
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active California Bar membership in good standing.
- Experience in insurance defense litigation or related civil litigation matters.
- Trial experience preferred.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and oral advocacy abilities.
- Knowledge of California civil procedure and court filing requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines effectively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to client service and case management.
- Salary range: $150,000 – $200,000+
