Brief Description

· The Mechanical Engineer will design and test all aspects of mechanical equipment and machinery. Provide basic technical support and troubleshooting for machinery and equipment, respond to customer inquiries and resolve simple issues via phone, email, or onsite visits. Assist in routine maintenance tasks, equipment inspections and troubleshooting. Escalate complex issues to higher-level engineers or specialists as necessary.

· Medium knowledge of CAD systems - able to create 2D and 3D drawings. Good knowledge of material science, manufacturing processes and engineering calculations. Basic knowledge of machinery design and global standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Designs products such as engines, machines, instruments, controls, or robots.

· Works with a design team to create design sketches, layouts, and plans.

· Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software to create preliminary and detailed drawings of the product. Create 2D and 3D drawings in Catia V6

· Produces specifications for products and chooses raw materials and components to be used in production.

· Builds models and prototypes of the product and tests the design.

· Studies the test data and makes comparisons with similar designs.

· Develops control systems and monitors production.

· Create and Modify bill of materials in SAP application.

· Provide engineering calculations for Mechanical systems

· Capable of determining correct material specifications and tolerances

· On-site inspections, review and recommendations

· Global standards and norms/ Schuler norms

· Metalforming and automation equipment knowledge

· Material science and manufacturing processes

· In-house and on-site Schuler equipment troubleshooting

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Specific Competencies

· Basic understanding of machinery and equipment.

· Excellent mechanical and technical skills.

· Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)

· Proficient with computer-assisted design (CAD) software. Prefer Catia experience.

· Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software

Education and Professional Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.

· Five (5) years of related experience preferred.

· Travel required 20-30%

· Must be able to access and inspect all areas of machinery.

· Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines

· Possess strong analytical aptitude

· German Language skills would be a plus.
