Mechanical Engineer

A multidisciplinary engineering firm is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years of experience designing, coordinating and overseeing mechanical systems. This role involves leading projects from concept through construction, mentoring junior staff, coordinating across disciplines and maintaining strong client relationships. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contractors, clients, and municipal stakeholders to ensure all mechanical installations meet design specifications, quality standards, and local regulatory requirements across multiple phases and building types.

Projects include healthcare, educational, commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities throughout New England and upstate New York.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Design, analyze, and develop Mechanical systems for projects in accordance with project specifications, building codes, and industry standards, ensuring seamless integration across multiple buildings and infrastructure components
  • Prepare and review detailed mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation using industry-standard software, maintaining consistency across complex, multi-building urban development initiatives
  • Coordinate mechanical systems across multiple project phases and building types with architects, structural engineers, urban planners, and other design professionals to ensure integrated infrastructure performance and urban connectivity
  • Conduct comprehensive site inspections and quality assurance reviews to verify that installations comply with approved plans, specifications, and urban development master plans
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide innovative solutions to optimize system performance, efficiency, and long-term sustainability
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, as-built drawings
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by staying current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and urban infrastructure innovations
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship on MEP coordination strategies


Qualifications/Requirements

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Technology, or related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of proven experience in mechanical design and coordination on projects, commercial developments, or complex infrastructure initiatives
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and coordinating mechanical systems for multi-phase projects
  • Advanced proficiency in reading, interpreting, and creating comprehensive mechanical drawings and technical documentation for complex projects
  • Expert-level proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM coordination software
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical systems

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and 3D coordination for multi-disciplinary projects
  • Proven experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical teams
  • Track record of successfully managing project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation on large-scale initiatives
  • Familiarity with mechanical analysis software
